MEDICARE assistance program
You may be able to access Medicare rebates for therapy with a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP). To obtain a MHCP, you will need to have a consultation with your General Practitioner. After the MHCP is organised, you are then able to access the Medicare rebate. You can access up to 10 Medicare rebates each calendar year under the MHCP.
Medicare Rebate for General Psychologists = $96.65 per session
Fee breakdown: $250 session fee less rebate ($96.65) = out of pocket cost of $153.35.
Please note that a MHCP is not required to book a therapy appointment.
If you are not eligible or do not wish to use this initiative, you will be required to pay the full fee.
PRIVATE HEALTH COVER
It is encouraged that you check directly with your private health insurance around eligibility for rebates based on your cover. Sessions may be covered depending on your selected provider and level of cover.
*Fees are revised annually*
*Medicare revises their rebates occasionally*
Cancellation Policy
HN Psychology is a private practice and does not receive public funding. The sole source of income is the fees paid per session attended by a client. If a client does not attend their scheduled appointment, HN Psychology does not get paid, and the private practice incurs a loss. In addition to this, clients who are on the waiting list may miss out on potential support.
Due to this, the practice has a strict policy. If for some reason you need to cancel your appointment, please provide at least 24-hours’ notice. Otherwise, you will be charged the full session fee as the counselling spot will not be able to be filled. Unfortunately, Medicare and private health fund rebates are not claimable for missed appointments or late cancellations.
Telehealth is available if you are ill but are well enough to attend the session remotely.
